1. Lallybroch – Midhope Castle (Broch Tuarach)

Begin your day by visiting the magnificent Midhope Castle, known as Lallybroch in the series. This historic gem served as the fictional home of Jamie Fraser’s family. Explore the beautiful surroundings and relive the love story of Jamie and Claire against the backdrop of this charming 17th-century castle.

2. Duke of Sandringham’s Residence – Hopetoun House

Next, we’ll journey to Hopetoun House, which played the role of the Duke of Sandringham’s Residence. This grand stately home will transport you to the opulent world of Outlander’s aristocracy. Marvel at the lavish interiors and exquisite gardens that were featured in the show.

3. Fort William – Blackness Castle

Prepare to be captivated by the brooding presence of Blackness Castle, standing in for the notorious Fort William in Outlander. 6. Highland Folk Museum – A Glimpse into Highlander Life

To enhance your understanding of life as a Highlander during the time of Outlander, we’ll visit the Highland Folk Museum. This living history museum offers a fascinating look into the daily lives, traditions, and customs of Highlanders from the past. Walk through authentically recreated buildings and experience the rich heritage of the Scottish Highlands.

7. The Real Inverness 

Depicted in the TV series both in 1940’s and early 1700’s, Inverness is now a bustling modern city. However we will bring you to a building that stood here long before, Abertaff House is the oldest surviving building in Inverness, dating back to 1593. It was built as a townhouse for Clan Fraser of Lovat, and was once occupied by Colonel Archibald Fraser who was the son of the infamous ‘Old Fox’, Lord Lovat. 

As the day comes to a close, we’ll return to the real Inverness, where you’ll have the opportunity to stay overnight and explore the modern city or simply relax and reflect on your incredible Outlander adventure.

Day 2: Immerse Yourself in Outlander Magic

On the second day of our Bonnie Scotland Tours Sassenach Adventure, get ready to dive even deeper into the enchanting world of Outlander as we explore more iconic locations from the series. We delve deeper into the Jacobite history while also taking in some of the most breathtaking natural wonders that Scotland has to offer.

Our day begins at the hauntingly historic Culloden Battlefield, where the Jacobite Rebellion came to its tragic end. Walk the solemn battlefield and visit the Clan Fraser memorial cairn to pay your respects to those who fought and died in the 1746 battle. Gain a profound understanding of the events that shaped the Outlander story.

2. Clava Cairns – Inspiration for Craigh na Dun – Time-Traveling Stones

Our next stop is the mystical Clava Cairns, the inspiration for the iconic Craigh na Dun. Stand by the ancient stones and contemplate the time-traveling elements of the Outlander series. 3. Dalwhinnie Whisky Distillery 

Many a dram was had during the filming of Outlander and Whisky features throughout the show. Here is your chance to visit one of Scotland’s most famous Highland Whisky Distillery and maybe try a wee dram for yourself.

4. Meet Scotland’s Famous Highland Cows

Before returning to Edinburgh, we have a delightful surprise for you. We’ll make a quick stop to meet Scotland’s famous Highland cows, known for their distinctive shaggy coats and gentle disposition. Get up close and capture memorable photos with these iconic Scottish animals.

5. Inverness (Falkland) – Where Claire’s Story Begins

Travel to Falkland, which stood in as Inverness in Outlander. This is where Claire’s time-traveling adventure begins. You can almost hear the echoes of her footsteps as you explore this charming Scottish town.

6. Le Havre (Dysart Harbour)

Next, we’ll transport you to Le Havre, known as Dysart Harbour in the series. As you walk along the picturesque harbor, you’ll find yourself in the bustling French port where Claire’s journey in Season 2 takes an unexpected turn. Feel the ambiance of 18th-century France come to life.
